FAQ
What kind of art do you make?
I create bright, playful, abstract art for anyone — whether you’re decorating a child’s room, a family space, or a corner that just needs more colour and joy. The work is intuitive, free-flowing, and full of messages that nurture acceptance, self-worth, authenticity and fun.
Who is your art for?
My art is for anyone who wants to bring colour, warmth, and meaning into their space — children and adults alike. Whether you’re decorating a nursery, a playroom, a home, a workplace or a therapy space, my pieces are made for those who value joy, creativity and connection.
What inspires your work?
My inspiration comes from three places:
My work as a Psychologist — listening to what adults needed to hear when they were kids.
My experience as a mum — thinking about what I want my children to know about themselves and the world.
My own creative story — from wannabe kindergarten abstract painter, to ‘good girl’ following the rules, and all the way back again.
Are your pieces original or printed?
I offer both original artworks and high-quality prints. Originals are one-of-a-kind and full of texture and layers. Prints are carefully reproduced to maintain the vibrancy and detail of the originals.
Can I use your art in a therapy or educational setting?
Absolutely — my customers include therapists, educators, and child-focused practitioners. The affirming messages and playful style are designed to support emotional safety and creativity in all kinds of settings.
Do you do custom pieces?
Yes! I love working on custom commissions — whether it's a specific child’s name you want to include, an important message, or specific colours to suit a space.
Why “A Colourful Mess”?
Because if you’re going to pursue a meaningful and fulfilling life, it’s going to be messy! Feelings are messy. Creativity is messy. And life is messy. But if you can embrace the mess (or at least learn to accept it), you'll find the beauty, wisdom, authenticity and colour there too. I wanted a name that celebrates the freedom, fun, and emotional truth of not needing to be perfect or polished to be valuable.
